Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This policy explains how JanuarySales (www.januarysale.org.uk), operated by E-Tara Ltd, uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small data file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences, and they help site owners understand how visitors use their pages. Browser storage works in a similar way.
2. Cookies and Storage We Use
These are the only cookies and browser storage our pages use:
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Analytics: a random ID that lets us count visitors (see section 3). | 2 years | Google Analytics |
| _ga_6JPDMGZJ6Q | Analytics: keeps track of the current visit (see section 3). | 2 years | Google Analytics |
| js-analytics-off (browser storage, not a cookie) | Remembers that you turned analytics off. | Until you turn analytics on or clear your browser data | JanuarySales |
| js_reveal (browser session storage, not a cookie) | Shows you the voucher code you asked to reveal, in the new tab that opens. | Removed once the code is shown, or when you close the tab | JanuarySales |
js_reveal is strictly necessary for the "Reveal Voucher Code" button you click, so it does not need consent.
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, only to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the Site. Google processes this data for us under its data processing terms. We have turned off sharing it with Google for any other purpose, and we do not use it for advertising or to identify you.
Our reports are totals, such as the number of visits from the UK in a week. Google Analytics keeps the underlying visit records for 2 months.
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), analytics used only for this purpose does not need your consent, but you can turn it off at any time. Turning it off removes the Google Analytics cookies and stops the analytics loading in this browser.
4. Cookies Other Sites Set When You Follow Our Links
JanuarySales earns a commission when you click one of our links to a retailer and make a purchase. This does not affect the price you pay.
JanuarySales itself sets no affiliate cookies, and our pages load no affiliate scripts. When you click one of our links, you pass through an affiliate network (such as Awin or Skimlinks) on the way to the retailer's site. The network and the retailer may then set cookies on their own sites, usually for 30 to 90 days, so the retailer knows you came from JanuarySales. Those cookies are theirs, and their own cookie and privacy policies cover them.
5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
To turn off analytics, use the switch in section 3. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings:
Blocking all cookies may affect how the Site and other websites function.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may revise this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookies. Changes will be posted here with an updated date.
