1. Data Controller

The data controller for www.januarysale.org.uk is E-Tara Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 05765765). JanuarySales is a trading name of E-Tara Ltd.

2. What Data We Collect

JanuarySales does not require registration or login. We do not ask you for your name, email address or any other personal details. The data we collect is limited to information gathered automatically when you browse the Site:

• Device and browser information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution and device category.
• Usage data: Pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, referring URL and search terms used within the Site.
• IP address: Collected by our hosting and analytics providers. IP addresses are anonymised in Google Analytics and are not stored by us in identifiable form.
• Cookies: Small text files placed on your device. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) we rely on the following lawful bases:

• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to operate and improve the Site, analyse traffic patterns and prevent misuse. We have assessed that this processing does not override your rights or freedoms given the limited and largely anonymised nature of the data.
• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for non-essential cookies such as analytics and affiliate tracking cookies, obtained via our cookie consent banner.
• Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) — where we are required to retain data to comply with law or respond to lawful requests.

4. How We Use Your Data

We process the data described above to:

• Serve pages and ensure the Site functions correctly.
• Understand which seasonal sale events and categories are most popular so we can improve our content.
• Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
• Fulfil legal or regulatory obligations.

5. Affiliate Links and Retailers

JanuarySales earns commission through affiliate marketing. When you click an outbound link, you leave our Site and are redirected to the retailer. From that point the retailer's own privacy policy governs any data you share with them. We never receive your payment details, delivery address or order information from retailers.

Affiliate networks (such as AWIN, SkimLinks, CJ Affiliate and Rakuten) may place cookies on your device to attribute a sale to JanuarySales. These third-party cookies are covered in our Cookie Policy.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded via Google Tag Manager (container JanuarySales), to collect anonymised usage statistics. Google processes this data on our behalf and may transfer it to servers outside the UK. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by:

• Declining analytics cookies via our cookie consent banner.
• Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

• Hosting provider (Vercel) — to serve the Site. Vercel may process request logs containing IP addresses.
• Google — for analytics, as described above.
• Affiliate networks — via cookies set when you click outbound links.

We do not share data with any other third parties except where required by law.

8. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (Google, Vercel) process data in the United States. These transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Server access logs are retained by our hosting provider for up to 30 days. Cookie durations are detailed in our Cookie Policy.

10. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectify inaccurate data.
• Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restrict or object to processing.
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time (for consent-based processing) without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

11. Children

The Site is not aimed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child's data has been collected, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The revised version will appear on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
