As temperatures take a dip, this is the time to look for warmer clothing in the high street sales. October and November bring some excellent deals from UK retailers as they clear summer and early-autumn stock. Fashion retailers such as Next, M&S, John Lewis, ASOS and Zara often run mid-season clearances with discounts of 30-50% on transitional pieces including jackets, boots, scarves and knitwear.
Electricals are another strong category in the autumn sales. Retailers like Currys, Argos and John Lewis frequently discount TVs, laptops, tablets and smart home devices in October and early November — partly to test demand ahead of Black Friday. If you spot a good deal on a specific model, it is often worth buying rather than gambling on a bigger discount later, as popular items sell out quickly.
October half-term is also a prime time for travel deals. Holiday companies such as TUI, Jet2, EasyJet Holidays and Love Holidays offer winter sun packages and ski deals at competitive rates. Homeware retailers including Dunelm, Habitat and The White Company run autumn refreshes with discounts on bedding, cushions and seasonal accessories.
